The Pokhara High Court has acquitted actor Paul Shah of charges of child sexual abuse. The High Court overruled the verdict of Nawalpur District Court, which amended the accusation of rape of a minor against Shah to child sexual abuse.
Previously, the Nawalpur District Court acquitted Shah of raping a minor and sentenced him two and a half years in prison and a fine of Rs 25,000 for child sexual abuse. The same verdict also ordered him to pay Rs 1 million in reparations to the victim.
Shah and the District Government Attorney's Office appealed in the Pokhara High Court against the District Court ruling. After hearing the appeals, a joint bench of Judge Dilliraj Acharya and Sridhara Kumari Pudasaini acquitted him of the allegation on Sunday, claiming inadequate evidence.
He was arrested a year ago on the charge of raping a minor.
