Kathmandu, April 24: A writ has been registered at Supreme Court, challenging government's preparations for evacuating settlements along various riverbanks in Kathmandu and other public places.
Eleven people including Gopal Ranpaheli filed the petitions on Friday, confirmed SC Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala.
The District Administration Office, Kathmandu and the Kathmandu Metropolis have already issued public notices, seeking those in such settlements to leave before 7:00 pm Friday.
The writ has sought the court to intervene in the eviction process until landless squatters in these areas whether along riverbanks in the Kathmandu Valley or elsewhere are properly identified, verified and provided with alternative arrangements.
