
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has unanimously approved Supreme Court Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (SC).
The decision was made during a PHC meeting held on Tuesday after conducting a parliamentary hearing on his nomination.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, PHC Chairperson Bodh Narayan Shrestha said that Dr. Sharma’s endorsement was unanimous. He added that the approval was granted in accordance with Rule 26(5) of the Regulations on the Working Procedures of the Joint Meeting of the Federal Parliament and Joint Committee, 2080.
Prior to the endorsement, the Constitutional Council had recommended Dr. Sharma for the position of Chief Justice.
