The Supreme Court has issued an interim order not to immediately implement the decision to remove the management committee of the community schools within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
The Constitutional Bench of Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai, Prakashman Singh Raut and Sapana Pradhan Malla issued the interim order on Wednesday to not implement the decision.
The KMC had decided to dissolve the school management committees to establish a provision that the chair of the respective ward or a person appointed by the ward chair would head the school management committee.
The court has also demanded a written response from the KMC with the reasons for removing the school management committee chairs.
The Chairs of 18 community schools had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court, arguing that the decision of the KMC was against the constitution, education act and regulations.
