Banepa Aug 28 (Kavre), Aug 28: Kshama puja rituals and prayers seeking forgiveness were performed at the Palanchowk Bhagawati Temple in Kavrepalanchowk on Friday.
According to Ramkaji Shrestha, ward chair of Panchkhal Municipality-9, the rituals were conducted after divine sweat was reportedly observed on the Goddess Bhagawati during the evening Arati few days ago.
On Friday, devotees performed a ceremonial bathing of the idol, followed by special forgiveness rituals based on tantric practices.
According to local religious beliefs, the beads of sweat surfaced on the idol of Palanchowk Bhagawati are considered an indication of impending natural disaster or political crisis.
Locals said they had witnessed similar omen before the 2058 BS Royal massacre, the 2015 earthquake and the 2081 BS landslides and floods and others. They have further linked the recent beads of sweat on the idol with the devastating floods in the Bhotekosi River on August 26, viewing it as possible consequences of the divine sign.
