The Patan High Court granted an interim ruling on a petition filed against Kathmandu Metropolis' decision not to allow the screening of Hindi films.
On Thursday, the single bench of Judge Dhir Bahadur Chand granted a short-term interim order not to halt the screening of any film certified by the Censor Board, including Indian films, while considering the plea brought by the Nepal Motion Picture Association.
Both parties have been summoned on June 27 to address the opposition.
Balen Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, prohibited the screenings of Indian films last Monday, claiming that the dialogue in the Indian film Adipurush regarding Janaki being an Indian daughter had not been deleted.
