EC Enforces Electoral Code of Conduct for Presidential, Vice-Presidential Election

The Election Commission has informed that the electoral code of conduct will come into force from March 1-19 in view of upcoming presidential and vice-presidential election. Similarly, the final name-list of candidates will be published today.

Nomination for the election to presidential post has already been filed on February 25 after establishing an office of the Election Officer and the candidacy could be withdrawn till 4:00 pm today.

A press release issued today, mentioned that the EC has enforced the Election Code of Conduct in exercise of the rights granted by Article-22 of the Election Commission Act-2073 for the election.

As per the EC, the Election Code of Conduct is a set of guidelines to be observed by political parties,
candidates, voters and other key electoral stakeholders.

The election to the post of President will be held on March 9 and that of Vice-President on March 17.

If anybody violates the code of conduct, action shall be taken and punishment shall be imposed
pursuant to the Election Commission Act, 2063 (2007).
