Ravi Lamichhane’s MP post revoked by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has revoked the position of MP for Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane.

The Supreme Court has ruled the citizenship certificate submitted by Lamichhane to the election officer's office in Chitwan during the nomination process as invalid.

According to the Supreme Court, after renouncing the American citizenship, all the actions done by Lamichhane as a Nepali citizen will be illegal because he used the canceled citizenship without acquiring new Nepali citizenship.

With this decision of the constitutional bench of Acting  Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki, Justices Prasad Shrestha, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Dr. Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Anil Kumar Sinha, Lamichhane  is also ineligible to be the chairman of the National Independent Party.

Lawyers Raviraj Basaula, Yuvraj Poudel and others filed a writ petition raising questions about the qualifications of  Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane, who is also the chair of the National Independent Party.

In the writ petition, the demand for cancellation of Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane's MP post mentioning that he opened a political party , contested in the House of Representatives elections and became an MP without acquiring Nepali citizenship.
