The Rautahat district court has sentenced former minister and Nepali Congress leader Mohammad Aftab Alam to life imprisonment.
On Thursday, the bench of Judge Matrika Prasad Acharya sentenced Alam to life imprisonment. He was convicted guilty of murder with the use of explosives.
Alam was accused of burning 23 people alive in a brick kiln during the 2064 Constituent Assembly elections.
On Kartik 29, 2076, the district court sent Alam to prison for pre-trial detention. Since then, Alam has been in jail.
