Kathmandu, Aug 16: The Department of Prison Management has shifted the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, from Rupandehi prison to Nakkhu prison in Lalitpur. Rabi is jailed on charges of embezzling cooperative organizations' funds.
Department's Information Officer Sanesh Prasad Joshi shared that Rabi was brought to Kathmandu this evening by an aircraft from Bhairahawa Airport.
The Department decided on Friday to transfer Rabi to Nakkhu prison from Rupandehi prison based on his application.
The Department had sent the decision to the Rupandehi prison on Friday night itself.
Considering the security concerns, Rabi was brought to Kathmandu in a plane and then was taken to the Nakkhu jail by a police van.
The supporters of Rabi and cadres of the RSP thronged the Nakkhu jail area and the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) as he was being taken to the capital city from Rupandehi.
