Hetauda, Aug 18: Six people have been injured after a vehicle travelling from Kathmandu to Hetauda veered off the road and plunged about 60 metres at Jurikhet in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6, Makwanpur, on Tuesday morning.
The vehicle, bearing registration number Province 3-01-002 Jha 5183, was heading towards Hetauda when the accident occurred along the Kathmandu-Hetauda roadway.
According to Madhav Raj Kafle, spokesperson for the Makwanpur District Police Office, the injured have been identified as Gokarna Dangi, 57, of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-9; Tara Datta Badu, 51, of Dasharath Chand Municipality, Baitadi; Badu’s wife Laxmi Badu, 49; his son Ritendra Badu, 31; Rita Badu, 31; and driver Chhuni Lal Chaudhari, 32, of Rapti Municipality-8, Dang.
Dangi is the chief judge of the Parsa High Court, while Tara Datta Badu serves as its registrar.
Police immediately dispatched a team to the accident site after receiving information about the incident. Four of the seriously injured, including Dangi, have been taken to Kathmandu for further treatment, while the remaining two are receiving treatment at Bhimphedi Hospital.
Police said an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
