The Biratnagar High Court has issued an short-term interim order on the petition filed against the sub-metropolitan city's head, Harka Bahadur Sampang,.

The High Court has approved the ruling on a petition filed against Sampang alleging that despite being a member of the Dharan Water Supply Board, he has been functioning as chairman. However, the position of chairperson remains vacant.

Vijay Shrestha, a member of the board, among others filed the petition at the High Court, accusing Sampang of failing to convene the board meeting and acting alone.

For a long time, Dharan's residents have been suffering from a lack of drinking water. Mayor Sampang is on a mission to quench the thirst of the sub-metropolitan's population. Water from the Kokaha River was recently diverted to Dharan under his leadership.

The single bench of Judge Murari Babu Shrestha has scheduled a hearing for both parties on June 15.
