Resham Chaudhary, convicted in the Tikapur case of Kailali and serving a life sentence at Dillibazar Jail, has been released.
President Ramchandra Paudel granted him amnesty on the occasion of Republic Day.
Following his release, Chaudhary went to the minister's apartments and then to Maitighar to speak with his supporters.
Chaudhary was convicted in the Tikapur case, in which at least eight people, mostly security personnel, including a senior superintendent of police, and a two-year-old boy died.
