Four candidates have registered their candidacy for the post of Vice President.
The deadline for the candidacy registration was from 9 am to 2 pm today. Until the deadline, four candidates have registered their candidacy, said the assistant election officer Amrita Kumari Sharma.
The CPN (UML) has fielded Astalaxmi Shakya for the position while three candidates from the 10-party alliance registered their candidacy.
The alliance-backed candidates are Ramsahay Prasad Yadav and Pramila Yadav, both from the Janata Samajwadi Party, and Mamata Jha from the Janamat Party. The coalition will pick a common authorised candidate until coming Sunday, said the Janamat Party Chairperson CK Raut to media-persons after the candidacy registration.
The vice presidential election is taking place on coming 17 March. It may be noted that backed by the alliance, Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel was elected President.
