Kamalamai (Sindhuli), Jan 14: Police have apprehended a man in possession of US dollar 5,700 of undisclosed source from Golanjor Rural Municipality–7 in Sindhuli district. The arrested has been identified as 34-year-old Yubaraj Newar of Mechinagar Municipality–3, Jhapa.
According to police, Newar was traveling from Kathmandu to Ilam in a Tata Sumo (Ba 16 Cha 8048) when security personnel stopped the vehicle at a check post in Golanjor Rural Municipality. During the inspection, the police recovered the foreign currency, the Khurkot-based Area Police Office said.
Newar has been taken into police custody and is currently being interrogated in connection with the seized amount.
