Nepal has defeated West Indies ‘A’ in the thrilling match by 4 wickets in the first match of 5 T20S.
Nepal achieved the target of 205 runs in 19.4 overs with the productive 112 runs from captain Rohit Kumar Poudel.
Earlier today at Kirtipur, the host won the toss and elected to field first. West Indies started the inning with the boundary while Kamal Singh Airee bowled opener batsman Johnson Charles in the first over. Another opener, Alick Athanaze, scored 47 off 25 balls.
Similarly, West Indies captain Roston Chase scored 74 off 46 balls before being caught in the lst over by Kushal Malla in DS Airee’s slower spin.
Batsmen Keacy Carty scored 38 off 26; wicketkeeper Andre Fletcher scored 13 runs; and Kadeem Allyene scored 14 runs for the team.
The West Indies finished their inning scoring 204 runs and losing six wickets.
From the bowling side, KS Airee, DS Airee, Poudel, and Abinash Bohara shared 1 wicket each.
Chasing the target, Anil Shah was caught out scoring 5 runs, and Kushal Bhurtel was caught behind by 16 runs.
One down, captain Poudel scored a century of 112 runs amongst the huge crowd at TU Ground. Kushal Malla and DS Airee contributed 16 and 24 runs, respectively.
Bibek Yadav was bowled, scoring seven runs. Pratish GC remained unbeaten with 5 runs hitting a boundary, and Gulshan Kumar Jha scored 9 runs unbeaten with a winning boundary.
West Indies bowlers Matthew Forde and Obed McCoy took two wickets each, while Keemo Paul took one.
Regular duet Sompal Kami and Karan KC were on the bench today, giving the ball to youngsters. Similarly, Aasif Sheikh was replaced by Anil Sah, both as batter and wicketkeeper. And Sundeep Jora was kept out with Bibek Yadav in the playing XI.
The West Indies players in TU Ground created a spectacular aroma in the ground, which will definitely provide a great experience to Nepali players.
