Gandaki, Aug 21: Prime Minister Balendra Shah arrived in Pokhara on a family trip this afternoon. He is scheduled to stay in a resort of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality-6.
Kaski's assistant chief district officer Chitrangat Baral confirmed the PM's arrival with this family. "This is entirely a family trip of the PM, and security arrangements have been tightened here in view of the visit," he said.
Baral said that no official events were scheduled following the PM's arrival. However, locals at Astam of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality have been elated by the PM's visit, said local Shobhakar Adhikari. Astam faces issues of roadway connectivity and drinking water, and we hope such issues will be addressed following the visit of the Chief of government, he added.
Tourism entrepreneurs are also happy with Shah's arrival in the town. They hope the visit will contribute to enhancing the tourism industry in Kaski.
The PM and his family opted for road transportation to Pokhara from Kathmandu. His family is scheduled to visit Mustang on Saturday.
