
Nepalgunj, March 16: In the past eight months, the Department of Drug Administration (DDA) in Nepalgunj has suspended 16 pharmacies. Among them, 11 are based in Banke and the remaining five in Kailali.
According to the Department’s information officer, Deepa Paudel, the authority took action during the first eight months of the current fiscal year, which began in mid-July.
During inspection visits, officials found that in some pharmacies the entrepreneurs were not present, while some were operating without license, registration, and some others charged for drug abuse. Even the expired medicines were found stocked for sale in some outlets.
Following the monitoring, 14 cases have also been registered for various offences, including operating pharmacies without licenses or registration, illegal supply of medicines, and abuse of drugs, the Department added.
