A Gen-Z group led by Miraj Dhungana organized a protest on Monday at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu, demonstrating against the government.
The protesters presented a 10-point demand, alleging that the interim government under the leadership of Sushila Karki has failed to reflect the core values of the Gen-G movement and to address the concerns of the younger generation.
A significant police presence was deployed in the Maitighar area during the demonstration. Despite heightened security arrangements, several Gen-G protesters were detained by the police.
Dhungana had announced the protest on Sunday, outlining demands that included the withdrawal of cases filed against youths arrested during earlier demonstrations, the establishment of an anti-corruption commission, and the formation of an all-party government.
The group has also declared plans for a nationwide protest, claiming that the Gen-Z movement has been “betrayed.”
Previously, a group led by Dhungana had clashed with police while protesting outside Singha Durbar.
The government, however, has stated that necessary security measures have been implemented to ensure that the protests remain peaceful.
