Kathmandu, Sept 8 — Television journalist Shyam Shrestha of Kantipur Television has been injured after being hit by a rubber bullet fired by police during a violent protest organized by the Gen Z movement in New Baneshwor.
Shrestha was filming the demonstration when police fired rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. He was immediately rushed to Civil Hospital, and is currently undergoing treatment.
The protest, which began at Maitighar, turned violent as it reached the Parliament building. After protesters breached restricted zones, police resorted to using tear gas and rubber bullets.
In response to the deteriorating situation, the Home Ministry imposed a curfew and deployed the Nepali Army to the Baneshwor area.
The decision came after protesters breached the restricted zone and forcefully entered the Parliament premises.
