The First National Bamboo Conference 2081 is all set to take place from Falgun 15-17 in Diktel, Khotang. The event aims to explore bamboo's potential for economic, social, cultural, and environmental development in Nepal.
Organized by local and national authorities, including the Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality and the Ministry of Tourism, Forest, and Environment, the conference will highlight bamboo’s versatile applications, from construction to handicrafts.
With 53 species of bamboo spread across 63,000 hectares in Nepal, the plant is underutilized for industrial purposes despite its widespread traditional use.
The three-day event will feature keynotes, panel discussions, and exhibitions, bringing together policymakers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and researchers. The goal is to promote bamboo as a sustainable resource, creating opportunities for eco-friendly housing, green industries, and more.
With over 500 participants expected, the conference is set to be a milestone in advancing Nepal’s green economy.
