Nepal has defeated Namibia by 3 runs in their third match in the Tri-Nations T20I Series keeping the hope for finals alive.
With this win, Nepal has managed to acquire 2 points, the same as Namibia.
Nepal will play their next game on Saturday against the Netherlands which has accumulated 4 points. It will be a
must win a match for Nepal to enter the finals; however, the finalists will be fixed only after the Namibia vs. Netherlands match on Sunday.
Earlier today, Namibia won the toss and elected to bowl first when Nepal set the target of 181 runs, losing 8 wickets.
In Nepal’s inning, Kushal Malla scored 55 off 37, and Aarif Sheikh 31 off 24. Malla remained not out, and Aarif was caught at the boundary. Openers Anil Kumar Sah scored 23 off 17, and Aasif was bowled in one run. Kushal Bhurtel was on the bench today.
Captain Rohit Kumar Poudel scored 10 runs. Gulshan Jha contributed 26 off 16 with three sixes and one four. DS Airee scored 16 off 8 balls and was trapped in LBW.
The partnership of Malla and Aarif took Nepal to a score of 180 runs in 20 overs.
Namibian bowlers Ben Shikongo and Jack Brussell took 3 and 2 wickets, respectively.
Trumpelmann, Scholtz, and Eaton took a wicket each.
In the second inning, Namibia looked stronger till the end of the 15th over, when they were 133, with the loss of 3 wickets, needing 48 runs in 30 balls with 7 wickets in hand.
Nepal returned to the game when DS Airee sent two players back to the pavilion in the 16th over:
Captain JJ Smit (50) and Eaton (0). Later, Frylinck (37 ff. 29) was bowled by Abinash Bohara in the 17th over. Karan KC came into attack in the final over when Namibia needed 12 runs to win. KC took a wicket, and with his wide and yorker, he defended the target.
Namibia, with the loss of seven wickets, scored 177 runs .
