The Kushe Aunsi celebration, which falls on Bhadra Krishna Aunsi, is observed by bringing the sacred kush into houses. According to the scriptures, keeping kush worshiped by a Brahmin at home will bring the family health and happiness.
To demonstrate their appreciation, children present their father with sweets and snacks on this day. Those who have lost their father visit various holy locations and perform shraddha rites in his honor. On this day, a special fair is observed on the Gokarneshwar Mahadev Temple premises in Kathmandu's northeast, also known as Uttar Gaya.
