The Pashupati Area Development Trust has claimed that the golden Jalhari offered at the Pashupatinath temple weighs 10 kg.

The Trust's Secretary, Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa, clarified about the weight of gold during the meeting of the National Concerns and Coordination Committee under the National Assembly of the Federal Parliament,on Tuesday.

He said that he was ready to bear capital punishment if the weight of gold in the jalhari did not match up to that he claimed.

Thapa broke down in tears as he said the state wanted to turn him into a thief by disregarding his numerous requests to weigh the gold in the Jalhari.

Member Secretary Thapa further said that he does not have to survive by misappropriating the wealth of the Pashupati region, including land. He also posed questions to the lawmakers, asking if he was forced to commit suicide because he did not receive justice in this case.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority cannot make random claims concerning the Jalhari case, he added.

Thapa also claimed that the report was received incorrectly, despite providing all the correct information to the Auditor General's office.

MPs questioned Secretary Thapa on the matter of Jalhari at the meeting.
