The government has decided to declare Padam Bahadur Limbu, who lost his life in course of the agitation over the naming of the Koshi Province, a martyr.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), Singha Durbar today decided to declare Limbu a martyr and provide compensation to that connection, said Rekha Sharma, the government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology.
Limbu died in course of the protest movement against the naming of Koshi province. He died on March 24 while undergoing treatment for injuries sustained during a demonstration in Biratnagar on March 19.
The government had formed an investigation committee after holding discussions with the protestors. The meeting decided that the federal government will facilitate in moving ahead in connection with the protest movement over the naming of the province holding talks and discussion with the province government.
