Ramchandra Poudel, the presidential candidate from the Nepali Congress, has won the Presidency of Nepal.
Paudel received 33802 votes, while his competitor Subas Nemwang of UML got 15518 votes. 313 federal parliamentarians and 518 state assembly members voted in today's election.
Poudel was a candidate from the power coalition who had the support of 10 major political parties.
He was backed for president by the CPN-Maoist Center, National Independent Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, CPN Unified Socialist Party, Public Opinion, Civil Liberties, Democratic Socialist Party, National People's Front, and Nepal Samajwadi Party.
