Patan (Lalitpur), May 27: Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Top Bahadur Magar, has shared that the status of implementation of the recommendations the NHRC has submitted before the government is not satisfactory.
Addressing a programme organised here today on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Commission, Chairperson Magar argued that rights and obligation are first basis for building a beautiful, prosperous and well-cultured nation.
He shared that the Commission has been ranked 'A' category as per the periodic assessment conducted by 'Global Alliance of National Human Right Institution' in March 2025.
Stating that the state should pay attention towards the violation of the rights of victims due to delay in providing justice to the victims of armed-conflict era incidents, Chairperson Magar stressed the need of issuing proposed National Human Rights Commission Act.
Similarly, Commission member Lily Thapa said the matter of ensuring human rights is extremely challenging and accused the state of not being sensitive towards human rights.
Likewise, UNDP Deputy-Resident Representative for Nepal, Julien Chevillard, opined that Nepal has done incredible work in the field of human rights.
President of NGO Federation of Nepal, Arjun Bhattarai, underlined that the Commission has been working in promotion of democracy and human rights protection.
