
Kathmandu, April 8: The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has urged the general public to adopt precautionary measures in view of imminent lightning, strong winds and hailstorms, and snowfall in different parts of the country on Wednesday.
Meteorologist at the Department's Weather Forecasting Division, Rojan Lamichhane, said that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall or snowfall at one-two places. At present there is influence of westerly low pressure system and local winds and it would further increase from tomorrow onward, he said, urging one and all to stay alert in accordance with the weather situation.
Its effects are appeared high in western Nepal with visible mounting impacts in the areas from early morning, it is noted. Its effects would appear in Kathmandu in the afternoon tomorrow.
According to the weather bulletin issued by the Department this evening, there will be full cloud cover in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces on Wednesday while weather will be generally cloudy in remaining parts.
The Department has indicated possibility of moderate rain and snow with thunderstorm and lightning, strong winds, and hail in many places of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in some hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces. Likewise, a few places of the Tarai regions, including Madhesh Province, and parts of Koshi and Bagmati provinces are also likely to experience such weather related incidents.
Meanwhile, meteorologist Lamichhane predicted heavy rain and snow in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
He added that there is also a possibility of strong winds in some places of the hilly and Tarai areas of Madhesh, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces. The weather is expected to remain cloudy on Thursday as well.
