Kathmandu, Oct 7: President Ramchandra Paudel along with First Lady Sabita Paudel went to Dakshinkali Temple this morning and offered prayers to the goddess Dakshinkali Mata and received tika and prasad from the priest.
The temple located in Dakshinkali Municipality, south of Kathmandu, is considered to be one of the major Shaktipeeths or goddess shrines in the Kathmandu Valley and a large number of visitors throng the temple during the Dashain festival.
On the occasion, mayor of Dakshinkali municipality, Mohan Basnet, presented the details of the damage caused by the recent flood in the temple area and asked for relief to the victims and help in the reconstruction of the temple area.
He also emphasized that the roads of Kathmandu-Makwanpur should be reconstructed as soon as possible and the traffic should be operated without interruption.
President Paudel expressed his grief for the loss of property caused by the floods and landslides in this area and said that he would draw the attention of the government to the temple area and to road construction and relief to the victims.
When the President reached the Dakshinkali temple, he was welcomed by the locals and the officials of the temple management committee.
