Devanganj Area Still Under Curfew

Biratnagar, July 29: The curfew order issued by the District Administration Office following the dispute over the Devanganj incident in Sunsari is still in effect today. According to Assistant Chief District Officer Poshan Lamichhane, the curfew will be lifted once peace and normal life are restored in the area.

Meanwhile, a team led by Chief District Officer Ishwari Prasad Aryal inspected and observed the site of the incident. During the observation, they also talked with the families of the deceased and the injured.

Assistant CDO Lamichhane said that the victims demanded punishment to the guilty, proper compensation for the deceased's family, free treatment for the injured, and a factual investigation of the incident.

Chandra Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office Sunsari, said that the peace and security situation in the Kaptanganj area is under control.

Meanwhile, Devanganj Rural Municipality Chairperson Bechan Prasad Mehta has urged all citizens to exercise restraint, saying that the incident in Devanganj, triggered by local disputes, has harmed society.

Gafar Ansari, the chairperson of Harinarayan Rural Municipality, also emphasized that the incident of clash between two communities that erupted all of a sudden should be dealt with restraint instead of bigotry. He urged everyone in the community to promote harmony, as activities like conflicts, fights, vandalism, and arson benefit no one.
