Chinese ambassador calls on Speaker Ghimire, assures to open all 6 ports to China

China’s ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, today paid a courtesy call on House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Devraj Ghimire.

During the meeting, that took place at the Speaker’s office in Singha Durbar, the two exchanged views on bilateral friendly relations between Nepal and China and on exchanges of information about parliamentary affairs.

On the occasion, the Speaker said, “Nepal is committed to the ‘One China’ policy,” acknowledging the Chinese’s medical assistance to Nepal during COVID-19 pandemic. He also recalled the Chinese assistance to Nepal for post-quake reconstruction efforts, expressing his hope for the cooperation from the northern neighbour to re-open the closed trade transit along the Nepal-China border.

On the occasion, the ambassador extended best wishes to the Speaker for his successful term. He also informed that China has given high priority to Nepal's desire for prosperity. Ambassador Song stated that the transportation capacity through Chinese ports has improved and assured to gradually open all 6 ports to China in coming days.
