Kathmandu, April 9: Communist Party of Nepal (UML) Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will stay in the hospital for a few days for medical treatment.
He has been released today from police custody. Oli was in custody for the investigation based on the report of the high-level commission formed to investigate the Gen Z movement incident. He was in hospital since his arrest.
Chair Oli stated that even though the government filed criminal charges against him in a prejudiced and vindictive manner and kept him in illegal custody for 13 days, he was eventually released as there was no basis or evidence to proceed with the case.
Following his release as per the Supreme Court's verdict, Chairman Oli thanked everyone who raised their voices for his release through social media.
Acting on the government's decision to implement the Commission's report, the police took Chairman Oli into custody from Gundu, Bhaktapur on March 28.
