Kathmandu, March 6: A candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party from constituency no 8 of Kathmandu, Birajbhakta Shrestha, has been declared victorious. He collected total 24,592 votes.
Shrestha's nearest rival Suman Sayami of the Nepali Communist Party received 3,217 votes. Nepali Congress' Sapana Rajbhandari has behind with 2,835 votes.
Shrestha, who had become the Minister for Youth and Sports, is a central secretariat member of RSP. It is the second time he got elected to the House of Representatives from the same constituency. Earlier, he was elected HoR member in 2079BS.
RSP leader Shrestha is a graduate in commerce. He is known for preservation of culture, language and Guthi tradition. He has forwarded the development agenda like carbon trading and forest conservation.
