The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal held a meeting with Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani to discuss enhancing Nepal-Qatar economic ties.
At the meeting in Qatar, they agreed to hold the next Nepal-Qatar Joint Business Council (JBC) meeting in Kathmandu, aiming to boost trade and investment. Dhakal urged Qatari investment in Nepal’s hydropower, solar, fintech, IT, and agriculture sectors.
Al Thani expressed support for activating the JBC and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Dhakal also invited Qatari businesses to the Nepal International Economic Summit (NIES) in February, featuring a special Qatar-focused investment session.
He highlighted export potential for Nepali products like tea, coffee, cardamom, and herbs, and proposed joint efforts on certification and branding. "The Nepal-Qatar partnership can be elevated to new heights through investment, innovation and cooperation. There is great potential to increase access for Nepali agricultural products, such as tea, coffee, cardamom, herbs and processed foods, to the Qatari market," Dhakal stated.
