Kathmandu, Jan 7: The earthquake with its epicentre at Dinggye County of Xizang Autonomous Region, China also shook the eastern region of Nepal including the federal capital, Kathmandu. The 6.8-magnitude-earthquake occurred at 6.50 am today.
According to reports coming in from the eastern districts of the country so far, the tremor has not resulted in big damage except minor damages.
Nepali Army Spokesperson Gaurav Kumar KC said that there is no large-scale damage from the earthquake. "As per the information received from the Army apparatus, there are no reports of large-scale damage to life and property throughout the country from the earthquake," he said.
Similarly, Joint Spokesperson of the Armed Police Force (APF), Shailendra Thapa said only minor damage has been reported due to the earthquake. "It is found that the walls of mud and stone houses have developed cracks at some places. However, detailed information of damage is awaited," he said.
Nepal Police Spokesperson Bishwa Adhikari said that no information of human casualties has been received so far.
