The National Assembly has endorsed the Bill related to transitional justice without any revision.
In today’s NA meeting, the proposal presented by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, along with the message of the House of Representatives (HoR) seeking passage of the Bill related to Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment), 2081’ was passed unanimously.
Earlier on August 14, the HoR meeting had passed the TRC Bill.
Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal informed the NA meeting today about the clause-wise discussion on the proposal and stated that no amendment proposal was registered over the proposal too.
Discussions on the proposal were held on the basis of political parties represented in the NA.
After the approval of the Bill, the NA has returned the Bill to the HoR.
Originated in the HoR, the bill will be sent to the President for authentication after HoR Speaker Devraj Ghimire's certification. The bill will take the form of an Act to come into force after the President's authentication.
