Netherlands has defeated Nepal in a close thriller by 2 runs in 2024 Nepal T20I Tri-Nations Series today at TU Ground, Kirtipur.
Winning the toss, Nepal invited the Netherlands to bat first. Dutch scored 184 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs.
Karan KC took the first wicket in third over when Dutch batsman Max O’Dowd (4 off 6) was caught by DS Airee at the cover area. Kushal Malla took second wicket in nineth over when opener Michael Levitt was stumped on a wide ball. He scored 54 off 36.
Captain Scott Edwards and Teja Nidamanuru were run out in which the former scored 33 off 16 balls and the latter scored 31 runs off 24.
Sybrand Engelbrecht remained not out in 49 runs with 4 fours and 1 six.
Chasing the target of 185 runs, Nepal scored 182 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets.
Captain Rohit Kumar Poudel scored 50 off 36 balls and was caught behind the wicket in Engelbrecht’s bowling in 12th over when Nepal were 100 for the loss of four wickets.
DS Airee lifted the scores till the last over. He scored 63 off 34 balls and was bowled in last over.
Nepal needed 15 runs in last over. South African born Dutch spinner Roelof van der Merwe came into attack whose first two balls were sent out of the boundary. KC got run out in the third bowl and Airee got bowled in fourth.
Earlier Aasif Sheikh contributed 34 runs in 23 balls and was stumped in a wider delivery of Roelof van der Merwe.
Roelof van der Merwe and Engelbrecht shared 2 wickets each. Kingma, Levitt, and Dutt took one wicket each.
The thrill was high in the match till the end but the Dutch snatched away the match from Nepal.
