Tri-Nation T20I Series: Namibia Defeats Nepal

Namibia has defeated Nepal by 20 runs in their first match in Tri-Nation T20I series, with Nicol Loftie-Eaton’s first T20I century.

Today at TU cricket ground,  the 22 years old left-hand batsman scored 101 runs in 36 balls which includes 8 sixes and 11 fours.

Earlier Namibia won the toss and decided to bat first. Namibia scored 206 runs in 20 overs. Opener batsman Michael van Lingen scored 20 off 19.  Malan Kruger played not out inning for Namibia scoring 59 runs in 48 balls. Jean-Pierre Kotze and Jan Frylinck contributed 11 and 5 runs respectively.

Kotze’s catch at the boundary by Bibek Yadav was a scene to appreciate. Captain JJ Smit scored 1 run when he entered the pitch after Nicol was caught by Gulshan Jha while attempting a reverse sweep.

Namibia inning comprises 31 boundaries today.

Captain Rohit Poudel took two wickets and Karan KC and Abinash Bohara shared a wicket each.

Chasing the target of 207, Nepal scored 186 runs in 18.5 overs. Poudel scored 42 off 24 balls and Airee scored 48 off 32 balls. Kushal Malla contributed 32 off 21 and Sompal Kami 26 off 11. Airee and Kami set the hope for Nepali team when Kami scored 3 consecutive boundaries and Airee hit 2 consecutive sixes. However, the fall of wickets made the fans desperate both at TU Ground and around the world.

Namibian Ruben Trumpelmann hauled 4 wickets and while Scholtz, Frylinck, and Nicol shared 2 wickets each. Nicol was declared player of the match for his century and 2 wickets.
