A bus heading towards Beni of Myagdi district from Kathmandu has fell into the Trishuli river killing at least eight people and injuring over a dozen others at Chalise, Fajuri-2 of Dhading district today.
The bus with registration number plate Province 3-01-005 Kha 9952 veered off the road and fell into the river.
Eight people are confirmed dead in the bus accident. The deceased included a child and two women, said the local people, who voluntarily involved in rescue efforts.
At least 17 injured people have been rescued, and of them 13 were sent to Kathmandu for treatment, and four others are receiving care at the Gajuri community hospital, said Superintendent of Police Gautam Mishra.
Although casualties have occurred in the accident their exact numbers is not yet known. Rescue is ongoing, according to Jaiswar.
A team of divers are searching for the missing ones in the accident, he said. A joint team of Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and local people has been deployed for the rescue efforts. The ill-fated bus met with the accident while overtaking, it is presumed.
