Ward chair of Ichchyakamana rural municipality-4 of Chitwan, Rudraprasad Upreti, has contributed his salary to provide health insurance to 61 households of his ward.
He has enlisted the 61 poor households to the government-run health insurance scheme.
On Friday, Ward Chair Upreti handed over a cheque of Rs. 213,000 to the insurance board under the health unit of the rural municipality.
On the occasion, Upreti said that the initiative was to fulfill the pledge made during the election.
Rural Municipality Chair Dan Bahadur Gurung said that the rural municipality aims to provide free health insurance to 10 percent of the poor citizens.
Provincial Assembly member Krishna Prasad Silwal expressed his gratitude for the good deed, describing it as a model work done as a representative of the people.
Chief of District Coordination Committee Chitwan, Narayan Prasad Adhikari, said that it is the duty of every public representative to work according to the wishes of the people.
