Matatirtha Aunsi (Photo Feature)

Matatirtha Aunsi is commemorated every year in honor of mothers and falls on the new moon day in the lunar month of Baisakh.

Devotees stay awake all night the night before in commemoration of their moms, then take a holy bath, pay tribute, and make offerings to their deceased moms the next day.

According to religious belief, if one envisions their mother with a devout heart and sincere devotion, they can see their departed mother's face mirrored in the pond.
