Three Parties Agree to Proceed with Chief Justice Appointment

The three major parties have agreed to proceed with the process of appointing the Chief Justice by holding a meeting of the Constitutional Council.

In a meeting held on Monday at UML Chair KP Sharma Oli's residence in Balkot, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' proposed the appointment of the Chief Justice as the Supreme Court has been functioning under an acting Chief Justice.

KP Oli agreed to the prime minister's proposal and informed Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak.

According to Lekhak, there was also a discussion on the bill on truth, reconciliation, and the investigation of disappeared citizens in the meeting, which was attended by Speaker Devraj Ghimire and the top whips of the three major parties.
