Search, Rescue Works Continue for Missing Sherpas in Avalanche

All three Sherpas who went missing are from Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-5 in Solukhumbu district

The Tourism Department has continued search and rescue works for those gone missing after avalanche in course of climbing the Sagarmatha.

On Wednesday morning, Dawa Chhiri Sherpa, Pemba Tenjing Sherpa and Lakpa Rita Sherpa went missing in a snow mass at Dam of icefall region between base camp and camp-1 while carrying materials used to make trails for climbing. It is the expedition time with the onset of the Spring Season.

All three Sherpas who went missing are from Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-5 in Solukhumbu district. They were mobilized on behalf of Imagine Nepal Trek and Expedition.

The press statement released by the Department informed that search and rescue of the missing ones was continued both aerially- by a Simrik Air helicopter, and via land.

The efforts were being carried out in collaboration with local administration, Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee, Himalayan Rescue Association, Imagine Expedition Company and Mountaineering Operation Association Nepal.
