The government has dispatched assistance materials for the people of Turkey that was hit by a major earthquake on February 6. The assistance consignment weighing over 22 tons includes medicines, medical equipment, warm clothes and other materials required for basic needs.
Earlier, the government had decided to send assistance materials to the quake-hit Turkey officially known as the Republic of Turkiye.
On February 8, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Bimala Rai Poudyal had telephoned her Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and extended her deep sorrow over the losses of lives and property in the earthquake there. She on behalf of Nepal assured of all possible support to Turkey in grief.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has thanked the respective government bodies, private sector and humanitarian organizations for their cooperation in the management of assistance materials and the Turkish Airlines for the transport of the materials.
