FIR filed against former cricketer Kambli for assault, allegedly threw broken handle of pan to hit wife

An FIR has been registered against former cricketer Vinod Kambli at the Bandra police station in Mumbai for allegedly assaulting and abusing his wife, Andrea Hewitt, under the influence of alcohol.

Andrea, in her complaint alleged that he verbally abused and thrashed her in front of their two children.

She subsequently underwent treatment at a Hospital in Bandra and then went to the police station, where Andrea recorded her statement and also submitted a copy of the medical report.

"The complainant has said that Kambli threw the broken handle of a cooking pan at her, causing injuries to her head. He also tried to hit her with a bat but she managed to wrest it out of his hands, after which she immediately took both her children and left the house," according to police.

No arrest has been made so far in connection with the alleged incident.
