Hindus worship Guru Brihaspati and Lord Vishnu on Thursday. It is believed, if you fast on this day, you will get abundant wealth, son and knowledge. On this day wearing yellow clothes and donating yellow colored items will bring good luck. Lakshmi, the wife of Vishnu is also worshiped on this day.

The fast should be started from the first Thursday of Shukla Paksha (The first fortnight between New Moon Day and Full Moon Day), if it falls on Anuradha Nakshatra, it is considered extremely auspicious. Putting on yellow clothes after the morning bath, then mixing together yellow flowers and sandalwood to make prasad and offering to God, is the right procedure to worship on a Thursday.

According to religious belief, seven days of the week has varied significance. Like other days, Thursday is also interpreted as a day of religious significance. Thursday is considered very important day from a religious point of view, which is considered to be the day of Jupiter, the master of 9 planets of the Solar System.

It is believed that the result of religious works done on Thursday will be immediate. The worship rituals of religious significance also have two sides to it, as any other work we perform throughout life. Therefore, one must take care of the do’s and don’ts.

It is mentioned in religious scriptures about what day and time are auspicious and inauspicious relative to the work we intend to do.

On Thursdays, it is auspicious to do religious works and study.

 

What to do on Thursdays that will bring good results?

 Donate items that are yellow in color.

Offer yellow colored sweets to Lord Shiva.

Before the sun rises, take a bath and purify Lord Vishnu by adding pure cow's ghee and light a lamp.

Apply saffron or turmeric paste on the forehead.

Worship the banana tree and offer a yellow dish or fruit as Prasad.

Donate bananas.

 

What not to do on Thursdays?

Do not wash your hair.

Hair should not be trimmed or cut.

Do not trim the nails.

Do not wash or dirty heavy clothes.

It is not considered good to worship Lakshmi alone.
