
Kathmandu, May 12: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has proposed the issues of priorities for the government regarding the area of human rights.
NHRC Commissioner Dr Tikaram Pokhrel said the NHRC presented the document to this regard to the government recently.
The document, sent on May 8, advises the government on the priority areas it should focus on to fulfill its responsibilities related to human rights guaranteed by Nepal's constitution, other existing laws, and international human rights treaties and conventions ratified by Nepal.
The recommendations focus on the implementation of fundamental rights, legal reforms, transitional justice, the National Action Plan on Human Rights, development and human rights, suggestions from the international human rights mechanism, and the strengthening of human rights.
The document comprehensively spells out about the overall work required to be carried out at the government level in areas including elections, human rights protection, and public service delivery.
