Nepal has defeated Hong Kong China by 8 wickets in their third match in ACC T20 Premier Cup. With this win, Nepal is at the top of Group A with 6 points.
Winning the toss, Nepal decided to bowl first in the rain delayed match. In the 18-over-match, Hong Kong China was all out in 17.5 overs scoring 114 runs. Highest scorer was Anshuman Rath who scored 34 in 26 balls before being run out by Gulshan Jha’s throw form near the boundary. Hong Kong China Captain Nizakat Khan scored 12, wicket keeper Zeeshan Ali scored 14 runs while Ehsan Khan scored 11 runs for his team. Other batsmen did not score double digit figure.
Nepalese bowling was disciplined today with Abinash Bohara taking 3 wickets while Lalit Rajbanshi, in his economic spell of 14 runs, took 2 wickets, along with DS Airee who bowled 2 Hong Kong China players in consecutive balls in last over. Similarly, pacer Karan KC gave a breakthrough to the innings taking the first wicket.
Chasing the target of 115 runs, Nepalese openers Kushal Bhurtel scored 32 off 19 while he was trapped in lbw by Yasim Murtaza. Similarly, Aasif Sheikh scored 40 off 18 balls before getting caught and bowled by Ehsan Khan.
Captain Rohit Poudel and Sundeep Jora remained unbeaten in 25 and 19 runs respectively which was sufficient to lead the team to victory.
Nepal achieved the target in 12.2 overs.
Nepal will play next match against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
The winner of ACC T20 Premier Cup will take part in Asia Cup 2025 in T20 format whereas the top three teams will be playing ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup, scheduled to take place later this year in October 2024 in Sri Lanka.
