My Integrity Has Not Budged: Finance Minister Mahat

Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that he played a sincere role in the budget formulation for fiscal year 2080/081.

Today in the meeting of the HoR, Minister Mahat denied the involvement of unauthorized personnel in budget formulation after lawmakers accused him of manipulating tax rates due to the involvement of former officer Ramkrishna Shrestha.

During the meeting, he said firmly that his 'integrity has not budged even an inch' and that he has not adjusted tax rates to benefit anyone.

He informed me that former officer Shrestha had been nominated by the government and assigned to make entries. Intermediaries were not permitted to be a part of budget drafting, he added.
