The new year 2080 has begun.

According to the Nepali calendar, the New Year (1st of Baisakh) is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm on the occasion of the beginning of the Bikram Samvat of two thousand and eighty (2080) years by exchanging greetings among Nepalis at home and abroad.

The new year is celebrated on the first day of the new calendar as the beginning of the year.
